Orofacial Pain & Temporomandibular Disorders

Any pain from your temple to your chin, including jaw pain and toothaches, can be described as orofacial pain. Headache and neck pain can be related symptoms to orofacial pain. Temporomandibular disorders are specific to problems related to the muscles and joints of your chewing system.


Symptoms can include:

  • Jaw pain
  • Jaw-joint noises (clicking, grinding)
  • Limited opening or movement of jaw
  • Difficulty opening or closing jaw
  • Jaw "sticking", "locking", or dislocation
  • Painful opening or closing of jaw
  • Stiff, tight, or tired jaws
  • Facial pain (around ears, temples, cheeks)
